Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Decibel Meter ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in our data practices.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Collected Automatically by Third-Party Services
Our app integrates Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may automatically collect certain
information for advertising and analytics purposes, including but not limited to:
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (such as Advertising ID).
- Network Information: IP address, network type, and mobile carrier.
- App Interaction Data: Information about how ads are viewed and interacted with within the app.
- Crash and Performance Data: Diagnostic information for ad performance troubleshooting.
AdMob's data collection and processing are governed by
Google's Privacy Policy.
You can manage your ad preferences or opt out of personalized advertising through your device's
Settings > Google > Ads menu, or by resetting your Advertising ID.
1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear that the app itself does NOT collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Account credentials or login information
- Precise location data (GPS coordinates)
- Contacts, calendar, or other personal data stored on your device
- Photos or media files from your device (except those explicitly saved by you using the Camera feature)
- Device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, MAC address, etc.)
- Voice or audio recordings uploaded to any remote server
2. Permissions We Request
Our app requests the following permissions to provide core functionality:
-
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO):
Required to measure environmental noise levels (sound pressure level in decibels).
Audio data is processed in real-time on your device only and is never transmitted
or uploaded anywhere. You may choose to save recordings locally for playback.
-
Camera (CAMERA):
Used exclusively by the "Noise Watermark Camera" feature, which overlays real-time decibel readings
onto the camera preview and allows you to take photos with noise level watermarks. Photos are saved
locally to your device's photo gallery only.
-
Internet & Network State:
These permissions are required exclusively by Google AdMob to load and display advertisements.
The app's core functions (decibel measurement, recording, history, camera watermark) operate
fully offline without any internet connection.
-
AD_ID:
Used by Google AdMob for advertising purposes (Advertising ID).
3. How We Use Your Information
All data processing within the app is performed locally on your device:
- Audio Data: Microphone input is processed in real-time to calculate decibel values. No audio is sent to any server.
- Recordings: When you choose to record a measurement session, PCM audio data is saved exclusively to your device's private app storage and can be deleted at any time through the app.
- Measurement History: Decibel measurement records (session duration, average/max/min dB values) are stored in a local database on your device. This data never leaves your device.
- Photos: Photos taken with the Noise Watermark Camera feature are saved to your device's local photo gallery.
- Preferences: Your settings (theme, weighting mode, sensitivity, calibration) are stored locally.
Data collected by Google AdMob is used solely for serving and optimizing advertisements within the app,
in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do NOT share, sell, or disclose your personal information to any third parties, because we do not collect it in the first place.
The only third-party service integrated in this app is Google AdMob.
Data shared with AdMob (such as Advertising ID and device information) is governed by
Google's data processing terms. Please refer to
Google's Privacy Policy
for details on how Google handles this data.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
All locally stored data (measurement records, recordings, preferences) remains on your device
under your full control. You can delete any or all of this data at any time by:
- Deleting individual records from the History screen within the app.
- Clearing the app's data through your device's Settings > Apps > Decibel Meter > Storage > Clear Data.
- Uninstalling the app, which removes all locally stored data permanently.
6. Children's Privacy
Our app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
The app is a general-purpose noise measurement tool and does not target children.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information,
please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. Security
Since all user data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted over the internet,
the security of your data depends on your device's built-in security features (screen lock,
encryption, etc.). We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date to ensure
the latest security protections.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can view all stored measurement data directly within the app.
- Deletion: You can delete any or all data at any time, as described in Section 5.
- Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: You can opt out of interest-based advertising through your device's ad settings or by resetting your Advertising ID.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a revised
"Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy
periodically for any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance
of the updated policy.
